Dr. Christopher Davis Sexual Abuse Allegations

Jonathan Rosenfeld

Dr. Christopher Davis sexual abuse allegations have shaken families across Pennsylvania, particularly in communities relying on addiction care and recovery programs.

At Injury Lawyer Team, we believe it is essential to shed light on these cases, explain what rights survivors have under Pennsylvania law, and offer clear legal guidance on the next steps. Every survivor deserves both justice and healing, and our firm is committed to holding accountable those who abuse positions of power.

Who Is Dr. Christopher Davis?

Dr. Christopher Davis, a Pennsylvania physician specializing in addiction treatment, has practiced internal and addiction medicine for decades. He worked with WellSpan hospitals and maintained a private practice where he treated individuals struggling with opioid dependency.

In addition to his private work, Davis also served as medical director at Pyramid Healthcare in York. In that position, he was the only physician authorized to prescribe methadone, giving him extraordinary control over patients participating in the clinic’s recovery programs.

Concerns about Davis’s conduct are not new. In 2000, he was disciplined after a disturbing incident involving a deceased patient, which led to the suspension of his medical license in the early 2000s.

Despite this record of medical misconduct, he was later reinstated and allowed to continue practicing medicine in positions of authority.

Abuse at Pyramid Healthcare, York County

The allegations against Dr. Christopher Davis center on his role as medical director at Pyramid Healthcare in York County. Survivors say he exploited his authority over the clinic’s methadone program, where patients relied on him for continued access to medication critical to their recovery.

Instead of offering support, Davis allegedly abused his position of trust and crossed professional boundaries. Some survivors recall that Davis kissed them during what should have been routine appointments, while others said he threatened to cut off their participation in the program if they resisted his demands.

Women also reported facing unwanted sexual advances and being coerced into sexual acts, often under the threat of losing access to their methadone treatment.

Allegations also extend to Davis’s private practice, where patients sought safe and professional care. Instead, survivors say the environment that should have supported recovery was turned into a place of manipulation and abuse.

Chronology of the Case

Concerns about Dr. Christopher Davis trace back to 2000, when a disturbing incident involving a deceased patient led to professional discipline and the suspension of his medical license in the early 2000s. He was later reinstated and returned to practice in York County.

From 2022 through 2024, Davis abused his authority at Pyramid Healthcare and in his private office. Survivors report that he used control over methadone treatment to pressure them into sexual acts, at times encouraging them to drink alcohol or misuse substances during recovery.

Investigators allege this pattern included assaulting numerous patients and threatening to cut off access to the methadone program if they resisted.

These allegations prompted a grand jury investigation led by the attorney general’s office. On April 30, 2025, Davis was arrested and charged with a wide range of felony offenses.

Prosecutors allege multiple crimes, including alleged rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault, and sexual extortion, along with additional counts related to controlled substances and the filing of false or fraudulent information.

According to court filings, Davis was held at York County Prison on $1 million bail pending preliminary hearings in the case.

What the Charges Mean Under Pennsylvania Law

The charges filed against Davis are among the most serious in Pennsylvania’s criminal code:

Each of these offenses carries serious penalties and affirms that what survivors endured is recognized as criminal under Pennsylvania law.

Civil Claims Abuse Survivors Can Pursue Against Doctors Specializing in Substance Abuse Treatment

The criminal case punishes the perpetrator, but civil lawsuits allow survivors to recover damages and hold institutions liable. Claims may include:

  • Corporate negligence: Facilities like Pyramid Healthcare can face liability if they ignore red flags or fail to supervise a doctor with a known record of medical misconduct.
  • Assault, battery, and emotional distress: recognizing the physical and emotional injuries caused by Davis’s alleged actions.
  • Negligent hiring and supervision: employers who retained Davis despite past suspensions may share liability.

Under 42 Pa.C.S. § 5524, most adult survivors have two years to file a claim, though exceptions apply. Speaking to a lawyer quickly ensures deadlines are not missed.

What Survivors Can Recover

Through civil claims, survivors may pursue:

  • Economic damages: therapy, medical care, addiction recovery, and lost wages.
  • Non-economic damages: pain and suffering, PTSD, loss of trust in medical providers.
  • Punitive damages: where conduct is outrageous and intentional, such as coercing sexual acts in exchange for medication.

Survivors should never bear the cost of abuse. Consulting a Pennsylvania sexual abuse attorney ensures claims are handled with care and precision.

Holding Institutions Accountable

Abuse often happens in environments where oversight breaks down. In Davis’s case, we are examining whether Pyramid Healthcare and other medical facilities ignored warning signs, failed to provide adequate supervision, or left patients unprotected.

When facilities fail to fulfill these duties, they can be held accountable through claims of corporate negligence and negligent supervision.

Our work in residential treatment facility sexual abuse matters shows how system failures endanger people already in recovery. We move quickly to secure policies, training records, and complaints, and to identify breakdowns that allowed misconduct to persist.
